Ever Been To A Sewcation?

Sewcations are sewing vacations!

One of my most successful events, sewcations, continue to be the place stitchers go when they want to spend a few days sewing with others that share their passion for all things fabric and fun. This is not an instructor-lead class but I am available should you need help.

Sewcations are held at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Sturbridge. When you arrive at the Holiday Inn drive around the back of the hotel where you can unload your vehicle. I'll have someone directing traffic so please do your best to be considerate of others and get unloaded quickly. If you have physical limitations for lifting etc. please let me know so I can have someone help you with unloading. Our group also has a special rate for overnight guests. Our rate for Sewcation through June is $89 per night plus tax. Tell the front desk you're with the sewing group for this special rate.

Design Walls - I have a few vinyl table cloths that I can tape to the walls or windows for use as a design wall.

Cutting Mats - I will have cutting stations setup for your use but you can also have your own cutting mat at your sewing station.

Irons - My hotel contact says we will not have any problems with power for our irons. If you want to use a small iron where you are sewing then that is fine but if we have issues that may change.

Meals/Refreshments - All meals are on your own. During the CODID Pandemic we have restrictions on beverage stations and sharing of goodies. We cannot have shared treats or meals with the group however, you may eat or drink at your sewing stations. I also have a couple of tables and chairs setup in the hallway outside the sewcation room where you can enjoy a meal or snack with friends. I will also have disinfectant wipes available for clean-up. We will also have 2 refrigerators and 2 microwaves in the sewing room for your use. Sturbridge has MANY restaurants that deliver or are just a short drove from the hotel.

Sewing Room Hours - The sewing room is available from Friday morning at10:00AM until Sunday at 4:00PM. If you're the first/last one in the room the front desk clerk with lock/unlock the room for you. I am staying at the hotel and usually am one of the last to quit sewing. You may start arriving at 9:30 on Friday morning.

Seating Arrangements - To stay COVID Compliant I have setup the sewing room so that we are seated 6 feet or more from each other to follow the social distancing guidelines. You do not have to wear your mask if you are practicing social distancing but if you leave your sewing station please wear your mask. If you forget you'll be gently reminded. To stay compliant sewcations are limited to 25 maximum attendees for indoor gathers in the size of the rooms we will be using.

You need to bring -Your sewing machine with power cord and foot peddle, Basic sewing notions such as thread, rotary cutter with blades, scissors and any rulers or specialty notions your projects may require, Projects! Projects! Projects! Tush-cush or comfortable chair (if you want to bring it with you). If you forget anything or are in need of some retail therapy we have about 5 quilt shops within 15 miles of the hotel.

Portable Sewing Table - You may bring your portable sewing table to sewcation and set it up in your sewing area. Each stitcher has plenty of room to spread out. You can bring a small side table or ironing table. As long as you stay within your space and stay compliant make yourself comfortable.
